A one-stop shop for regionally inspired goods in downtown Kalamazoo: apparel, souvenirs, gifts, and the travel essentials you forgot to pack. RIO runs on Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology: cameras track what you pick up and charge you as you leave, so there is no register and no queue.

- Scan a card at the entry pedestal on the way in; you are charged automatically on the way out
- Receipts
- Scan the QR code on the graphic to the left of the entry door for the transaction search page, and have the receipt emailed
How it works
- Scan your payment card at the entry pedestal to open the door.
- Take what you want off the shelves.
- Walk out. The cameras total it up and charge the card you came in on.
Worth knowing before you go
- Whoever walks in with you is on your bill. Once your card is scanned, anyone who comes through while the door is still open is part of the same transaction.
- Shopping with someone who is paying separately? Let the door close behind you. They scan their own payment to get in.
- Changed your mind about an item? Put it back on a shelf that already has items on it. That is how the system registers the return, and how you avoid being charged for it.
- Your receipt is not automatic. Scan the QR code by the entry door after you leave to pull up the transaction and email it to yourself.
