What we have done to make this site usable for everyone, what we know is still missing, and how to tell us when we have got it wrong.

Our commitment

Greenleaf Hospitality Group wants everyone to be able to use this site, including people who browse with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, or reduced motion. Hospitality means making people welcome, and that applies here as much as it does at our front desks.

The standard we build to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That is the standard most widely referenced in law and procurement, and it is the one we measure against when we build a page.

What this site does

  • Every photograph and graphic carries alternative text that describes it. Images that are purely decorative are marked as such, so a screen reader skips them instead of reading out a filename.
  • Text contrast is measured rather than judged by eye. Where copy sits over a photograph, the darkening layer behind it is calculated against the brightest pixel under each line, to at least 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text and controls.
  • Every page opens with a skip link, so a keyboard or screen reader user can jump straight past the navigation to the content.
  • Focus is always visible. Anything you can click, you can reach and operate with a keyboard, and you can see where you are while doing it.
  • Expanding sections, such as job descriptions and the leadership profiles, are built from the browser’s own disclosure element. They work with JavaScript switched off and announce their state to a screen reader without us having to describe it.
  • Motion is optional. If your device asks for reduced motion, the background video never loads and the reveal animations do not run.
  • Pages are built from real headings, lists and landmarks, in the order they are read, so the structure makes sense without the styling.

What we know is not finished

  • This site has not yet been audited by an independent accessibility specialist. Our testing is our own, and our own testing finds our own blind spots last.
  • Two things on this site are run by other companies and are outside our control: the job application portal, which is Workday, and the media inquiry form, which is JotForm. We have chosen them partly on accessibility, but we cannot fix their code. If either one blocks you, tell us and we will take your application or your inquiry another way.
  • This site is still being built, and new pages arrive regularly. Something that is correct today can regress tomorrow, which is why the contact below matters more than this list does.

Tell us when something does not work

If any part of this site keeps you from doing what you came to do, we want to hear about it, and we would rather hear early than not at all. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened, along with the browser or assistive technology you were using if you know it.
